I am trying to figure out how to allow a person viewing a captivate module within my LMS to stop at any point within the recording and then the next time they come back to pick right back up where they had left off. The question is, what settings need to set in Captivate 3? Once I know that I'll deal with my LMS provider.

Hi Jay,
What you said, is the bookmarking problem..
Your captivate file must have scorm wrap or scorm enabled, which you can set it the settings
Edit> preferences> Quiz > and set the scorm settings,
Even though your course doesnt have any quiz in it, you still have to set the settings in it.

I worked through it and it works fine in my LMS.. I am using OLAT and the bookmarking works good..
Like when you go out of the module and come back, you can see the page where you left off..

If you have any doubts about the settings in the SCORM can let me know..ok

Thanks
Tryphy..

Janelle,

I am working with LearnSoft LMS and it's been frustrating getting bookmarking to work. I uploaded a simple Captivate 3 course, 12 "text" screens, followed by a 5 multiple choice question quiz; in that, bookmarking worked great. Now I've modified this simple course to contain an additional 75 "text" screens (no changes to the quiz) and bookmarking no longer functions. Ouch.

You mentioned some tweaks to the SCORM.htm file. Could I have a copy? And any other insights would be very much appreciated.

The files I posted , once applied to scorm.htm corrected my bookmarking issue. I am learning that there is an area I hadn't worked on troubleshooting, which is bandwidth. Thanks Mark for those few words out of your mouth in our brief conversation that brought this to my attention! I would like to learn more about how I can reduce bandwidth without loosing too many functions in my project :)

okay, so the edits the scorm.htm file were posted in piz instead of a zip, but I can't figure out what to do with them. I now have this piz file that I can't rename or open in notepad. Any suggestions?

So just take the downloaded piz file...right click and rename the file to SCORM.zip (just change the ".piz" to ".zip") and then you can open it in notepad or word... :)

I'm so frustrated. That's not working for me. I have renamed the file but in word pad it still looks like gobblety gook. And when I look on the properties of the file, it indicates that it is still a piz file even though the extension is zip.

Can you tell me what the settings were that were changed? This may be something I've already tried through another board.

Have you found any other great sources of information for working with Captivate and sum Total 7.2 to get them to play nice?

I guess I"m going to try the work around of the blank slide with the click box next.

Hey Amy,
If you want to give me a call I can tell you the workarounds or fixes I have made to get our Cp files to work on Sumtotal. 5038261240

I'm going to take you up on that! Because that other fix worked perfectly. I'm learning more from fellow users than anyone else!
